Training Gear

Training to the best of your ability includes coming in ready with the right equipment.

If you would like to continue training after your trial, here’s a full list of what you’ll need:

  • This is your uniform every class, as it represents the start of your journey in Muay Thai. Only intermediate level students who pass the Siam No. 1 Blue Shorts Grading may wear other colored Muay Thai shorts besides yellow.

  • Skipping is an essential tool for Muay Thai training as this exercise improves coordination, stamina and endurance. This is a mandatory part of our training regimen, expect to skip for 5-10 min. every class.

  • Hand wraps are what socks are to shoes: it prevents blistering and adds shock absorption, and they are used to protect knuckles and wrists when punching. Use wraps 180" in length as shorter hand wraps decrease padding.

Students are expected to wrap their hands within 2 minutes: the less time for wrapping hands, the more time for training. You can check our tutorial here: Hand Wrap Tutorial

  • Muay Thai bag gloves have a thin layer of padding around the knuckles. The minimalist design allows for two functions. First, this allows for a better grip as grabbing is a part of Muay Thai training to throw knees and elbows. Second, the limited padding allows the puncher to better understand the proper mechanics of a punch: hitting with the knuckles, squeezing on impact and hitting with accuracy.

  • Thai pads are thickly padded and cover the length of the forearm and hand. The larger surface area coverage of the Thai pads protects the user as the pads can be used to receive all 4 weapons: punch, kick, knee and elbow.

If you're already registered for classes but waiting for the gear to arrive, you are still welcome to train :)
